Madass Folk Club Forum

Welcome to the Madass Folk Club website. The Club is now held each Thursday night at the Muddy Farmer Hotel Annerley starting at 8pm - and admission is free!!

For other great folk music events around Brisbane always go to The Folk Rag.
This week - a sensational lineup!! (Times subject to the whims and vagaries of Dame Fortune!)

  •   Singer Songwriter Night #13 Featuring Maxine McCabe, Anne Infante, Emma White, Francesca de Valence and Abbie Cardwell

Maxine McCabe ~ Maxine never intended to become a musician, setting out to begin a career in physics after leaving her home town of Yeppoon in 2002. But a series of life lessons and a win at the Wintermoon Folk Festival Songwriter’s Competition saw and end to her science career, and instead pushed her towards a lifetime of composition and performance.

Anne Infante ~ Singer/songwriter Anne Infante has been performing since the late 1960s. She has an extensive repertoire and enjoys singing a variety of styles, both a cappella and with guitar: traditional, contemporary, blues, country, gospel, calypso, and her own highly acclaimed original songs. www.anneinfante.com/

Emma White ~ Emma has been playing guitar and singing for the past ten years. She first picked up the guitar when she was 14 after hearing an equally disaffected teenager play covers in his bedroom. She promptly returned home to make friends with her father's Maton and has not looked back. Since then she has written many a dittie about love, life and political injustice and she continues to do so in her spare time. Emma loves playing with words and patterns on her Takamine and seeing what combinations of the two she can come up with. She hopes that you too, enjoy these combinations. http://www.myspace.com/emjaspiro

Francesca de Valence ~ What came from studying classical piano and violin as a child and later, jazz at the Conservatorium of Music, developed into a love of singing and songwriting. Francesca's collection of songs are an honest reflection of her experiences and relationships. www.myspace.com/francescadevalence

Abbie Cardwell is a harmonica toting, guitar slinging, banjo picking gal with the voice of a "homesick angel" that delivers "roots music from the heart". With Triple J Unearthed, BMI USA and ABC songwriting awards under her belt plus a brand new album (mixed by Bruce Springsteens engineer Nick Didia) she is set to soar on her own new indie label Rootsytoons Records. www.abbiecardwell.com www.myspace.com/abbiecardwell.com
